Nunnelly helped bring Cameron Elementary School into budget through value engineering. Within two weeks after San Antonio ISD requested Nunnelly’s assistance, the team provided over $1.3M in cost reductions. Over 90% of the cost savings were accepted by the owner. This project required an extensive rebuild and addition to the existing 45,000 sq. ft. school.
The addition consisted of an additional 30,000 sq. ft. of classrooms, cafeteria, grand entry, and administration area attached to the existing building. It also included the installation of two new chillers and all associated pumps and piping. The design incorporated a pier and elevated pan slab first floor, with structural steel framing for the second floor. The exterior of the building included masonry veneer to match the existing building.
