Nunnelly was selected as the best value contractor to complete the SAISD Transportation Phase I project. This project included an extensive site work package on a 25 acre site to sift through existing soil removing all Class II hazardous materials. Once the site prep was completed Nunnelly constructed new state-of-the-art fueling and bus wash facilities and also coordinated the relocation of existing portables to house the new facility staff. This project also incorporated a large parking lot and security fencing. Following the successful completion of this project SAISD moved all of its busses to this location.
Nunnelly completed SAISD Transportation PHASE I in 2015 and due to the success of Phase I, was awarded Phase II. Just like Phase I, Phase II consisted of a significant site package to separate and remove any Class II materials and also included extensive excavation and grading to accommodate additional facility maintenance vehicles, bus, and employee parking.
In addition to the site package the project included a 25,000 sq.ft. maintenance and training facility with propane, fuel, oil, and air systems. The structure was slab on grade and incorporated a pre-engineered metal building wrapped with custom metal paneling. Additional site utilities and landscape improvements were also included.
